Girl!!!, your audacity should be hot like atarado 🥵

Goodmorning, fine boy/hot girl!

Rise And Shine!!!!!!

Only yesterday, I gave you a spark of courage. This morning, I've come to increase that spark. Somebody please shout glory!!!

I recently spoke with a friend of mine, and our conversation made me realize how most of girlhood is about fear mongering. The explanation that comes to mind is Chimamanda Adichie’s monologue in BeyoncĂ©'s “Flawless”, and it talked about teaching girls to always shrink  themselves, and see other girls as competition not for the good things of life, but for men.

You are taught to be careful of everything — boys, uncles, old women, people that don’t wash their hands, and people who smile too much. At the same time, you are taught to be easy and agreeable. Don’t be inquisitive” “allow him to pick first” “share your toys” “don’t smile too much” and many others.

You leave home and get to school, and it’s worse. You start facing new problems, like wanting to fit in with other girls.

She said she remembered also comporting herself into shapes as a child so that I could fit in and make friends at school. How badly girlhood meant wanting to be liked.

Today, I’m dedicating this newsletter to the girlies and I personally think it's time to rewrite the script!!! And feel at peace, we have three very simple advice for you:

  1. Celebrate those small small wins no matter how small.

  2. Challenge that inner critic, especially the one that fears what others would think of you. Even before others start to think.

  3. If you're like me, my own gym does not pass my bed “Fake it till you make it.” The most important muscle in your body is confidence.

I think young women as a collective need to exhibit more audacity. Apart from the fact that it saves you the time and energy you’d spend negotiating your choices and opinions with people who don’t care, your socio-political rights are also in jeopardy if you choose to remain soft and pliant. You think the rights your mothers fought for are engraved in stone, then one day you wake up and find that a group of people who don't care can decide to throw it all away.

I want more women to take up space. To realize that there is a correlation between standing up for themselves, and standing up for womanhood as a whole.

So today I want you to know that as being part of our community.

You're enough!

I want all the women on our list today to know that you're our Women Crush Wednesday. I see you and we're proud of the things you're doing and how you've been strong and unwavering.

All these smiles and little bit of laughter that I've made you feel, is just for you to know that your audacity should be hotter than atarodo!!!

My guys, we will yarn tomorrow. Stay jiggy!

See ya tomorrow,
